	     to bolt, fr. L. baculum a stick.]
	     1. (Geol.) A breaking or bursting forth; a violent rush or
	        flood of waters which breaks down opposing barriers, and
	        hurls forward and disperses blocks of stone and other
	        d['e]bris.
